If you use Google’s Toolbar you may have noticed that there is function on there called “PageRank”.
To quote the description that Google gives when you run your mouse over the function, “PageRank is Google’s measure of the importance of this page”. PageRank is measured in a scale between 1 and 10 with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest rank. Google uses their own algorithms to work this out but in layman’s terms Google’s PageRank is the measure of how many external websites are linking back to your site.
The logic is if you have many “In Bound Links” to your website then your site is deemed to be important thus you have a higher number in the “green scale” of the PageRank toolbar. Google was really the first to rank sites in this manner but other major search engines such as Yahoo and MSN (now called live.com) also deem external links to your website as important so the more In Bound Links you have the better!
For those of you who don’t have the Google Toolbar installed, don't worry because the Google Toolbar PageRank scale is only an indicator and is updated every few months. In truth Google updates the actual PageRank on a regular basis, so the In Bound Links that you get back to your website all count and your page has a PageRank regardless if you use the toolbar or not.
So what does this have to do with Directory Submissions you may be asking? How search directories work is that they provide an online search portal pointing back to your website when a submission of your website is made to the directory. As their name suggests, they are directories full of websites organized into categories and themes listing submitted website’s addresses and descriptions. The links from the directories to your website are all deemed as In Bound Links by search engines.
To improve the In Bound Links of your website, SiteHand is able to submit your website to over 300 directories available to us. All it takes is for us to work out with you what keywords, key phrases and descriptions relevant to your website and we can submit these using the key words and phrases as anchor text for the directories.
Not only will this improve your inbound links but the keywords and key phrases used as anchor text in the directories will improve your position in search results for those terms.
